Well, it's been about a month, (for those of you who didn't know) since we got engaged. Mel has been getting pretty sick of telling people the story of the delay on the ring and she can finally stop telling it because we picked it up today. We're both very excited as it is now technically official that we are committed to spending the rest of our lives together. We were not completely sure how the ring was going to turn out because we used Mel's grandmother's ring to make her's, but she absolutely loves it. Here are a few pictures.

PS...if anyone wants to see the Cuba pix send me a message or comment and I will send you the link.

Congrats again. You are both pretty lucky, got the job you want, live in a place that sounds like lots of fun and you get to share it all with the one you love. Take care of each other. The ring looks great by the way, a very classic design.
Welcome to the family officially Mel! We love the both of you! Auntie Nina commented that it was very nice "bling bling"!
Wow! We LOVE your ring, and what a super idea using your grandmother's diamond to create your own. Lots of good memories there!!
Please send the access to your holiday pics. Bet they're great and no hurricane!!
Love, and congratulations again to two great grandkids,
Nan and Papa
*sniff sniff* It's a beautiful ring ! I'm SOOO happy for you both! You've always been a part of the family Mel, but like Mom said, now it's just "official". Love you guys!
I am SO happy for both of you!
Melanie - the ring looks amazing, I am so happy that you used Grandma's diamonds, and I am sure she is smiling down on the two of you as you start your life together.

As the school year starts for you both as teachers, I will remind you Mel of a story Grandma loved to tell...about you.
- Grandma was babysitting you when you were in Kindergarden -and you wanted to go to school SOOO bad that one day you went out to the curb before 10 am, to wait for the bus...which didn't come until after noon.
Grandma attempted many times to get you back in the house, but your answer was "no...I'ts OK Grandma...I'll wait".
Just before noon - you came to the door to tell Grandma you were "tired" and wanted to have a "nap"....of course it was too late - the BUS WAS COMING.
You then decided you didn't think you wanted to go to school that day :-)

I think of this story often when I see the little kids toddling along to school in the morning...and I always smile thinking about you being that little...and SOOO cute.
Now YOU are the teacher, and getting married.
My Gosh...where has the time gone?
Mel and Mike... Congrats to you both!! The ring is amazing too. Wishing you both much love and happiness now and always. ((hug))
